Jabari has finished his swimming lessons and earned his swimming badge. Today he is going to jump off the diving board for the very first time. He climbs the ladder and watches other kids jump — they look happy and brave. When Jabari gets to the top, he looks down at the water far below and starts feeling scared. His stomach does a flip. He keeps letting other kids go ahead of him. His dad waits at the bottom and says, "You don't have to do this today." But Jabari wants to. He takes a deep breath, stretches his arms out, and jumps. He splashes into the water and it feels amazing. He wants to do it again.
Jabari ha terminado sus clases de natación y se ganó su insignia. Hoy va a saltar del trampolín por primera vez. Sube la escalera y mira a otros niños saltar — se ven felices y valientes.
